Programs

The Foundation has created a process where teachers and administrators apply for grants to fund activities that in the past were funded by the school budget. Some examples are:

  • Sponsered a joint Leadership Summit hosting representatives from the Governance Councils, PTA and staff of both MGIS & MSL. The group created a list of goals and objectives for both schools and to bridge a working relationship between the various organizations. (2005)
  • Provided matching funding for two Milwaukee German Immersion teachers to attend the Goethe Institute training program in Freiburg. (2005)
  • Investigated and secured funding for two student interns from Germany as part of the Amity Institute. (2005)
  • Provided matching funding for students at the Milwaukee School of Languages for a school sponsored trip to Germany. (2005)
  • Provided assistance and funding to a German-born teacher to secure a US visa in order to continue employment at the Milwaukee German Immersion School. (2004)
  • Provided $8,700 to Milwaukee German Immersion School for additional German speaking assistant time to our classrooms. (2003)
  • Provided funds for Herr Piwek at Milwaukee German Immersion School to attend a conference for children having difficulty in Immersion programs (2003)
  • Provided funds in support of the Goethe Haus Kinderkamp summer program (2002 & 2003)
  • Helped finance a two-day in-service for seven new teachers and their mentors (2002)
  • Financially supported German tutoring for new teachers (2002)
